Kuba fördert den Binnenmarkt

Havana, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice President Marino Murillo called here for expanding and improving services and programs in internal trade, as part of the updating of the Cuban economic model the island is currently implementing.

After attending the 2012 management analysis of the Ministry of Internal Trade yesterday, Murillo stated that despite the work done, there are some deficiencies that should be overcome to face the process, aimed at greater efficiency and productivity in the Cuban economy.
In that sense, the minister, cited by Granma newspaper, called for strengthening the program of selling building materials, the expansion of building maintenance services through the creation of cooperatives, and the improvement of wholesale distribution channels.

Other priorities the vice president mentioned were improving the work on energy saving initiatives, repair of cooking appliances, and maintaining the sale of liquid natural gas to the population.

The also head of the Permanent Commission for the Implementation and Development of the Guidelines governing the economic updating in Cuba also urged accelerating the expansion of new models of economic management to other gastronomic and service activities.

The updating of the Cuban economic model includes improvements in management and efficiency of the socialist enterprise, as well as encouraging cooperatives and the private sector, where nearly 400,000 people work in activities such as food sales and transportation of passengers and cargo.
